PE-HD PE / PE-HD / PEHD – Polyethylene
PE-HD 300, 500 and 1000 – The numbers indicate the length of the molecular chains, meaning that the higher the number, the higher the wear resistance. PE, which is known for its good chemical resistance, has a highly non-stick surface, making the material easy to clean but difficult to bond. Joining is done mechanically or by welding. The material has good impact strength even at low temperatures, whereas its strength and stiffness are relatively low.

PE-HD is available as extruded semi-finished products in sheets and rods. PE-HD 500 and 1000 are also available as pressed sheets. The most common colours are natural (white) and black. However, PE is produced in many colours, and beige (HD 500) and green (HD 1000) are also stock items at OTV. PE-HD sheet can be supplied as regrind to achieve a favourable price. In addition, PE-HD 1000 is available as antistatic and with various additives that provide improved sliding properties, higher temperature resistance, greater mechanical strength, and better resistance to chemicals and bacteria. PE-HD 1000 is also produced as chain guides and wear strips in many variants.

Note!
PE-HD is also referred to internationally as UHMW.

Applications
PE-HD is used, among other things, in the food and chemical industries for cutting boards, compartment dividers in freezers, food moulds, tanks, containers and similar items.

  • Tubs
  • Gears
  • Chain controls
  • Containers
  • Wear strips
  • Cutting boards
  • Clothing for sliding movements

PE-HD 500 and 1000 are often used for chain guides, wear strips, gears and as wear plates in silos where low friction is required.

In addition to the grades mentioned in rods and sheets, we also stock wear strips in PE-HD 1000. Other grades are sourced from the factory.
