PEEK – Polyetheretherketone
PEEK, one of the newer materials, is characterised by very good chemical resistance and temperature resistance. It has good wear and fatigue strength. PEEK is a highly versatile material, not least where the properties of many well-known thermoplastic materials are exceeded.
Applications
When a material that can withstand high temperatures is required, PEEK may be a solution. Even at 250°C, the material retains its good strength and dimensional stability. It also withstands sterilisation in an autoclave as well as gamma radiation. Although the material has high toughness, machining should take into account its low notch impact strength.

PEEK can be supplied with carbon and glass fibre reinforcement. This increases the range of applications up to 300°C without significant loss of mechanical properties. PEEK can be used in hot water without problems, but is not resistant to concentrated sulphuric acid and nitric acid, as well as acetone. UV stability can be increased by adding carbon.
