PUR

PUR – Polyurethane
PUR is a flexible, resilient plastic type that can be used where a combination of wear resistance, flexibility, and the ability to absorb shocks is required.

Properties
Compact PUR is produced in various hardnesses (Shore), which also relate to stiffness. Shore 90 is harder and stiffer than Shore 80. PUR is highly elastic and can, in some situations, replace rubber. Due to the material’s high toughness, it is very suitable for severe abrasion. Although PUR may change colour when exposed to UV light, its properties do not change. In general, PUR is resistant to oil and petrol, but not to concentrated acids and alkalis, or to hot water and steam.

Applications
In addition to use as couplings, bushings, etc. in the machinery industry, the construction sector in particular uses PUR for snowplough blades, mixing buckets, scrapers, as well as shock absorbers and similar components.
