PVDF
PVDF – Polyvinylidene fluoride
PVDF belongs to the group of fluoroplastics and is known for its good chemical properties as well as its mechanical strength. It is a very pure material with relatively good strength and friction properties. PVDF is produced in sheets and rods, as well as pipes, fittings, and valves.
Properties
PVDF is resistant to most acids and weak bases, and it is also suitable for use in hot water and steam. However, it is not resistant to acetone, ethyl acetate, and hot sulfuric acid. PVDF is not affected by UV radiation, and it is highly resistant to ageing, even when used at high temperatures or in hot water. Bonding PVDF with adhesive is not recommended; instead, it can be welded, or mechanical joining should be used.
Applications
PVDF is widely used in the chemical industry and other areas where aggressive liquids are used. It is used to manufacture vents, pump components, tanks, and piping systems.
